In today's Rewarding Moments In Redskins History presented byMaryland Lottery My Lottery Rewards, we look back at the Redskins' celebrating their Super Bowl victory over the Miami Dolphins.
"This is for you!" Hall of Fame head coach Joe Gibbs screamed to the half-million Redskins fans celebrating the team's Super Bowl XVII victory over the Miami Dolphins in the streets of downtown Washington, D.C.
People skipped out on work, schools were dismissed and fans from all over the country came to the Nation's Capital to celebrate the franchise's first of three Super Bowl victories.
Gibbs and the players praised the rain-soaked Redskins faithful as being the best fans in the world. Player floats had to be cancelled due to the rain but fans still stuck around singing "Hail to the Redskins" as buses filled with their Super Bowl champs passed by them.
The Super Bowl parade capped off a month long celebration for the Redskins and was the start of memories that will last a lifetime.
