Of the few offensive players linked to the Redskins in mock drafts, running backs Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook are among the players that have met with the Redskins.
Two of the top running backs in the Class of 2017 have spoken with the Washington Redskins at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Florida State's Dalvin Cook and Stanford's Christian McCaffrey both told reporters that they have spoken with the Redskins.
Both are considered first-round picks along with another running back – LSU's Leonard Fournette.
While Fournette has been ranked slightly higher than Cook in most mock drafts, Cook believes he will ultimately be the best running back in the NFL.
"I just think my game and my tape proved that," Cook said via USA Today. "I just think that moving forward, I can prove that myself."
Cook certainly has the numbers to back up his claim, as he carried the ball 687 times for 4,446 yards and 46 touchdowns in three seasons at Florida State.
During his junior season in 2016, Cook rushed for a career-high 1,765 yards and 22 touchdowns en route to first-team All-ACC and first-team All-American honors.
While Cook had previous off-field issues during his time at Florida State, he's confident that any past mistakes are behind him. He's now just focused on being the best player he can be at the professional level.
"It's all on me now," Cook said. "It's all on how I go perform and how I go to get me to jump up draft boards. The combine is here now. The week is here that I've been waiting for. It's on me now. I've just got to go do my part."
McCaffrey certainly doesn't want to be forgotten, though. While he's been considered more of a late first-round pick, the Stanford product put up record numbers during his college career as well.
In three seasons with the Cardinal, McCaffrey rushed for nearly 4,000 yards along with scoring 22 touchdowns. But his production didn't stop there, as he also picked up 1,206 receiving yards with 10 more touchdowns along with two return touchdowns.
"I feel like a lot of people don't give me credit for my skills and talents," McCaffrey said. "That's just the way it is. But I also don't really care too much. I don't feel like I'm crazy disrespected. I have a chip on my shoulder at all times. That's been my whole life."
McCaffrey prides himself on being able to do a little bit of everything, even if he is just six-feet tall and weighs 197 pounds.
"I think it's important just to show everything I can do," McCaffrey said. "It's something I pride myself on, being extremely versatile and I feel like I can do that stuff. To show coaches I can play running back, I can play receiver. I can do all the return game stuff, that's important to me."
