Left tackle Chris Samuels is scheduled to undergo a final evaluation on his neck in the coming weeks and he is still undecided if he is going to play again.

"I want to play," Samuels said on Wednesday. "I love to play the game. But at this point, I definitely have to go out and get this last checkup and then just kind of pray about it and make a final decision. Either way it goes, I'll be fine."

Samuels suffered a neck injury on Oct. 11 in the Week 5 game at Carolina.

He was eventually placed on injured reserve on Oct. 31.

Due to the severity of the injury, Samuels is considering retirement.

Samuels has played with spinal stenosis--a narrowing of the spine--since high school. He managed to become one of the elite left tackles in the NFL, playing 10 years in Washington.

Samuels was at Redskins Park on Wednesday to pay tribute to retiring offensive line coach Joe Bugel. He spoke with reporters about his status after the press conference.

Samuels said he would not consider Bugel's departure as a factor in whether he decides to continue to play or retire.

"I have to look at the situation for myself," Samuel said. "It is what it is. 'Buges' is a great coach and I value his opinion on everything, but this is kind of a personal decision and it's something I have to make a smart decision about."

Added Samuels: "I've been through some good years and some bad years here. I've been through it all. My decision-making will be about my health and if I'm okay to go out there and play and there's not a big risk to get permanently injured, then I'll definitely play."
