Shawn Springs, March 27 @ Mini-Camp

On how mini-camp feels:

"It almost feels like a college atmosphere. Maybe even most guys would put it in terms of a family atmosphere. I think that is the way Coach Gibbs has always been and he's won with that and that's the way I think it should be. When a team comes together as a family they play better together and they leave out the egos and selfishness."

On if his impressions of Coach Gibbs now are the same from when he was growing up in the area:

"I used to think that all the old school coaches were real hard but Coach Gibbs is so nice. Most of the time with the older coaches, you are intimidated by them and you're afraid to talk to them but that's not the case here. Everyone is very personable and helpful trying to get the work done."

On Fred Smoot considering him and Bailey to be the best CB tandem in the past:

"I don't think that is going to change. Champ (Bailey) brought excellence to the east coast and he was a four-time Pro Bowler and a good player. I'm going to bring the same type of attitude to my game and I try to look at myself like that. But what it comes down to is that we have to show it. With all the attention that comes to us we have to prove it on the field."

On the atmosphere (media attention) here in Washington compared to Seattle:

"I think it was like this when Coach Holmgren first got to Seattle and there were some years after that it wasn't like this, then it picked back up when we went to the playoffs. I was telling one of my teammates, this is unbelievable and unreal with all this media attention. It actually feels like I'm finally in the league. All of this media attention is very surprising to me."

On the amount of information the coaches are presenting to the players:

"A lot of coaches around the league in the first mini-camp present a lot of information but these coaches are very detail-oriented guys and they really take the time to give you the information. They take the time to get you to learn it to make it easier and explain it."

On the defense that Coach Gregg Williams is installing:

"There's one thing with this defense, you are going to earn your money because he's going to put you one-on-one a lot. The good thing is we have ways to get pressure and make offenses do things and we have talent like LaVar (Arrington) and Marcus Washington and Phillip Daniels. We're going to put a lot of pressure on the other side of the ball."

On his health status right now:

"Right now, I'd say I'm about 85 to 90 percent. I got a little bone bruise from the Green Bay playoff game last season. If it was a game I would definitely be playing but they're keeping me out of some things because it's early in the offseason."
