Shemy Schembechler enters his 15th season in the National Football League and his 10th campaign with the Redskins.

Schembechler joined Washington prior to the start of training camp in 2001. In his first year with club, he served as the midwest area scout, adding the northeast region to his responsibilities in 2002. Previously, he served as the midwest BLESTO scout for the Chicago Bears (1998-00). Schembechler originally entered the NFL as a scouting assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1996, a position he held for two seasons.

He began his career as a graduate recruiting assistant at the University of Michigan in 1993. His father is the late Bo Schembechler, the legendary Michigan coach from 1969-90. While at Michigan, Shemy Schembechler assisted in the recruitment of many future NFL stars including former Redskins right tackle Jon Jansen. During his tenure (1993-95), he was also part of three bowl championship teams (Hall of Fame Bowl, Holiday Bowl and Alamo Bowl).

Schembechler is involved with many philanthropic activities, most notably the "Heart of a Champion" fund in honor of his late father, which forms treatments and promotes therapies to fight cardiovascular disease in partnership with the Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan. Of equal importance is the "Millie Schembechler Adrenal Cancer Program," also at the University of Michigan, named in honor of Shemy's late mother. The program's mission is to increase awareness and to develop medications and treatments to fight this rare form of cancer

A 1992 graduate of Miami University, he and his wife Megan reside in Worthington, Ohio. They have a son, Glenn Edward IV, nicknamed "Bo" in honor of his grandfather.
