The Washington Redskins pay tribute to the late Sean Taylor this week with events designed to honor the memory of the former Redskins safety.
On Thursday, Nov. 27, the one-year anniversary of Taylor's tragic death, Redskins fans are welcome to visit FedExField and pay their respects to Taylor at a special memorial area outside the stadium's Ticket Office. Fans may drop off flowers and cards at the memorial, located between Gate A and Gate H. Please note: there will be no memorial available to fans at Redskins Park.
On Sunday, Nov. 30, prior to the Washington Redskins-New York Giants game at FedExField, Taylor will be inducted into the franchise's Ring of Fame in a special ceremony. He will be the 43rd member admitted into the Ring of Fame at FedExField.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early at FedExField for the ceremony at 12:30 p.m. ET. Kickoff for the Redskins-Giants game is 1 p.m. ET. The ceremony features a tribute and messages from former teammates, as well as comments from Taylor's family and presentation of commemorative plaques to members of the family after his memorial is added to the stadium wall. All proceeds from the sale of Sean Taylor merchandise on Sunday will benefit the Sean Taylor Memorial Trust Fund.
The entire Ring of Fame ceremony honoring Taylor will be broadcast live on Redskins.com. Fans unable to attend the proceedings should go to Redskins.com at 12:30 p.m. to watch the ceremony as it unfolds at FedExField.
Taylor was murdered at the age of 24 on Nov. 27, 2007, in Miami as he confronted intruders in his house. With his incredible combination of size, speed, athleticism, ferocity and instincts, Taylor was one of the most unique and dynamic athletes the game has ever seen, despite playing less than four seasons.
