The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent linebacker Ricky Elmore to a Reserve/Futures contract.
Elmore (6-2, 255) was originally selected by the Green Bay Packers out of Arizona in the sixth round (197th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
He was waived by the Packers on Sept. 3, 2011, before signing with the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad on Jan. 5, 2012.
Elmore signed with the San Diego Chargers on Feb. 6, 2012, before being waived on Aug. 31. He then signed with the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad on Sept. 3, before being released on Sept. 25.
He signed with the Cleveland Browns' practice squad on Nov. 13, 2012, where he remained for the rest of the season.
Elmore played collegiately at Arizona, where he garnered All-Pac 10 honors as a senior and honorable mention as a junior.
He finished his career second in school history with 25.5 sacks, including a conference-leading 11 sacks as a senior in 2010.
Elmore was born on Feb. 1, 1988, in Simi Valley, Calif. He attended Grace Brethren (Calif.) H.S., where he was named first team all-state and all-Ventura County as a senior.
