Redskins.com's training camp practice reports come to you with news and updates as action happens on the practice fields:
-- One full week of Redskins training camp practices are complete. Who has impressed so far at camp? Two candidates are left tackle Trent Williams and rookie defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins. Williams has made obvious strides in pass protection and Jenkins has shown an ability to fend off blocks and get into the backfield.
-- Looks like players are back to wearing shells, except for the quarterbacks. My prediction for full pads remains Monday.
-- It appears that Brandon Banks and Chris Cooley are sitting out practice. Banks has had some knee swelling and Cooley has some knee soreness.
-- Malcolm Kelly is also sitting out practice. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Kelly has a sore hamstring/groin injury.
-- Offense working through drills, with the quarterbacks eaching taking snaps from shotgun formation.
-- Wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell put his charges through a relatively simple pass-catching drill. "Work hard, be good at it," McCardell says. Rookie Aldrick Robinson drops a throw. "Come on! Come on!" McCardell yells.
-- First set of 11-on-11 action, running back Tim Hightower finds a nice running lane and charges through, racing to the end zone for a touchdown and drawing applause from fans.
-- Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander and defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins help push the pile on run to the left, closing a hole for rookie running back Shaun Draughn. No gain for Draughn.
-- Linebacker Edgar Jones got in position to wrap up rookie running back Evan Royster on a run to the left for no gain.
-- Quarterback Kellen Clemens had good protection in the pocket, threw a pass to rookie wide receiver Leonard Hankerson across the middle for a nice gain.
-- Undrafted rooke guard Corey O'Daniel blocked veteran defensive lineman Darrion Scott. Tim Hightower cuts away from Scott to find a huge hole. Hightower races downfield for a big gain.
-- Rookie linebacker Markus White and defensive lineman Joe Joseph had a strong push against the O-line and got in position to tackle Evan Royster on a run up the middle.
-- Quarterback Rex Grossman faked a handoff -- play action -- and saw wide receiver Santana Moss running a post downfield. Moss was open, but Grossman's pass was overthrown.
-- Oops, Tim Hightower fumbled a handoff from Rex Grossman. Hightower fell on the ball for the recovery. Sometimes, the handoff connection between quarterback and running back takes time.
-- In 7-on-7 action, John Beck threw a pass across the middle to Leonard Hankerson, but Hankerson could not hold on to the ball. Fellow rookie wide receiver Niles Paul then ran a similar pattern, except on the opposite side, and pulled in Beck's pass.
-- Rex Grossman tossed a short pass in the flat to tight end Logan Paulsen, but he was quickly wrapped up by safety Reed Doughty and pushed out of bounds.
-- LaRon Landry discussed his Achilles injury post-practice: "It's making progress, everything's positive...It's getting close, it's getting better. I just need it to get stronger. When I get out there playing, I want to stay out there." Landry is on Redskins' PUP list.
-- If anyone can make transition from 4-3 DT to 3-4 NT, it's Barry Cofield. He has a great attitude: "A lot of it is just mindset," he said.
