Redskins.com's training camp practice reports come to you with news and updates as action happens on the practice fields:
-- Another week of Redskins training camp kicks off on Monday. It's a great morning, very little humidity, and there is another good turnout by fans.
-- As Mike Shanahan indicated on Saturday, tight end Chris Cooley and wide receiver/kick returner Brandon Banks are back on the practice field. Both Cooley and Banks have been slowed by knee soreness.
-- Offensive tackle Clint Oldenburg has returned to the practice fields. He has missed time due to an illness. It's important for him to be back on the field; the Redskins signed veteran Sean Locklear while he was sidelined.
-- Wide receiver Malcolm Kelly remains sidelined as he continues to recover from a foot injury. He headed out on the practice field slowly, his shoulders slumped a little bit. Kelly knows he is losing out on crucial reps
-- We have two new Redskins in the fold. Linebacker Keyaron Fox and defensive lineman Doug Worthington have joined the team. Fox is a player to watch. Formerly with Pittsburgh, Fox was the Steelers' special teams captain the last two years. He worked with Redskins linebackers coach Lou Spanos in Pittsburgh. So Fox has a very good chance of earning a roster spot.
-- Safety O.J. Atogwe and running back Ryan Torain were riding the stationary bikes at the start of practice. Torain's injured hand is taped up. Atogwe may be getting a veteran's day off.
-- Quarterback Kellen Clemens is absent from practice so that he can attend a funeral.
-- Wide receivers spent time working on fine-tuning their pass routes. Five of them lined up and ran different routes, focusing on running it at the right depth. Training camp is all about details, details, details.
-- Redskins putting an emphasis on red zone work in Monday's practice.
-- Quarterback Rex Grossman rolled right, threw dart to Mike Sellers at the 1-yard line. Reed Doughty in tight coverage, but Sellers pulls ball in for TD.
-- Fade pass from Rex Grossman to wide receiver Leonard Hankerson, Grossman's pass was way overthrown.
-- Strong coverage by cornerback Phillip Buchanon and safety Anderson Russell as Rex Grossman rolled right, aimed for Donte Stallworth but pass incomplete.
-- Rex Grossman waits, then throws to back of end zone, wide receiver Terrence Austin leaps up for a remarkable catch. Did he keep both feet in? Looked out.
-- London Fletcher and Will Montgomery got in a brief shoving match after a play, but it ended quickly.
-- Time for wide receiver vs. cornerback drills again. "Work on your release," WR coach Keenan McCardell shouts out to his charges.
-- Leonard Hankerson pulls in a deep pass in front of cornerback Josh Wilson, drawing big roar from the fans.
-- Brandon Banks is ooking good after returning from injury ... Banks broke loose from cornerback Kevin Barnes and pulls in a deep pass.
-- Wide receiver Donte Stallworth in tight coverage vs. cornerback Reggie Jones, but Stallworth was able to make the catch anyway.
-- Phillip Buchanon had tight coverage vs. Leonard Hankerson, Buchanon didn't allow Hankerson to get vision on the ball, and pass incomplete.
-- Anthony Armstrong vs. DeAngelo Hall, Armstrong faked a deep route and pulled up in front of Hall...Armstrong made a nice grab.
-- Quarterback John Beck is not working in 11-on-11 action, it appears. He was slowed by a groin injury late in Saturday practice.
-- More red zone work for the Redskins. Rex Grossman tried to throw a short pass to Fred Davis, but rookie safety DeJon Gomes was in position to make the interception.
-- Leonard Hankerson makes a nice grab of a Rex Grossman pass across the middle. He beats DeAngelo Hall, who pushes him to ground after catch.
-- Running back Tim Hightower took the bulk of work late in 11-on-11 work late in practice. On a stretch run to the left, Hightower broke through the line and maintained his balance as a tackler grabbed him, picking up a five more yards. Next play, Hightower ran to the right and broke a tackle to pick up more yardage.
-- Hightower again. This time, it was a draw play and defensive linemen Kedric Golston and Chris Neild pushed the line in his direction, with Golston in position to make the tackle behind the line of scrimmage.
-- New linebacker Keyaron Fox made a quick first impression. He got in position to tackle Tim Hightower on a run to the left, and the two banged shoulder pads, drawing "Ooohs" from fans.
-- Another draw play for Tim Hightower, this time he got past the line of scrimmage but was quickly stopped by Phillip Buchanon for a 5-yard gain.
-- Left tackle Trent Williams opened a gaping hole for Tim Hightower, who raced through and ran to the left. Hightower evaded tacklers and capped the drive with a nifty touchdown run.
-- With Kellen Clemens absent and John Beck limited, the second-team offense was run by undrafted rookie Ben Chappell. First play of his 11-on-11 work, Chappell tossed a pass to running back Keiland Williams across the middle. Williams raced past a block and down the left sideline. Perhaps some defenders in the secondary thought the play was whistled dead, because they stopped chasing Williams. He kept going and scored a touchdown.
-- Last play of practice, Ben Chappell threw a deep pass to Brandon Banks running a post pattern downfield. Cornerback Reggie Jones was part of the coverage and he leaped up for a well-timed interception.
-- Ryan Kerrigan returned to practice fields for the first time since first day of training camp. He had been sidelined with a sore knee.
