The Redskins had two players named to the 2016 All-NFC Team by the Pro Football Writers of America, as Trent Williams -- for the second time -- and Ryan Kerrigan were selected.
Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Ryan Kerrigan have been named to the All-NFC Team by the Pro Football Writers of America.
This is Williams' second consecutive selection to the All-NFC Team while Kerrigan was named to the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2011.
Both players along with guard Brandon Scherff and tight end Jordan Reed were also named to the 2017 Pro Bowl, which will take place next week in Orlando, Fla.
Williams – a seven-year veteran out of Oklahoma – started all 12 of his appearances for the Redskins this season and was once again a captain.
The five-time Pro Bowler was also Pro Football Focus' top rated left tackle during the 2016 season.
He's also only the third Redskins player since 1970 to reach five consecutive Pro Bowls, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Ken Houston (seven straight from 1973-79) and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Chris Hanburger (five straight from 1972-76).
Kerrigan, meanwhile, once again led the Redskins in sacks, as the Purdue product finished the season with 11 sacks along with two fumbles forced.
From Weeks 5-8, Kerrigan registered at least one sack in all four games and collected a pair off Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz in Washington's Week 6 victory over its division rival.
In the Redskins' Week 14 victory over the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, Kerrigan sealed the game with a strip sack of Wentz with Philadelphia driving into Washington territory for a potential game-winning score.
"Had him pretty squared up at the point, and I'm just saying [to myself], 'Hold on to the ball, hold on to the ball,'" Kerrigan said of the play. "Fortunately was able to get it out, and ultimately get it back. We've forced a lot of fumbles this year as a team, but we haven't recovered a lot of them. That was equally as big, the recovery."
Kerrigan became the first member of the Redskins to start all 16 games in each of the first six seasons of an NFL career since the adoption of the 16-game schedule in 1978 with a start in the regular season finale against the New York Giants.
The 2011 first-round pick ranks third in franchise history in sacks (58.5) trailing only Charles Mann (82) and Dexter Manley (91) since sacks became an official stat in 1982.
