Commanders Camps will kick off with its first camp on March 31st at Northwest Stadium. Over 40 single-day and week-long camps will be held throughout the summer in Bethesda, Md., Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., McLean, Va. and other locations across the DMV.
"We are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of Commanders fans through youth football and increasing participation in the sport," said Daniel Levy, Director of Youth Football at the Washington Commanders. "Flag Star Football shares our mission, which is why we're excited to be working with a trusted local organization for this initiative so that we can continue to show up for the DMV community in the same way they show up for us on game day."
This is the first collaboration between the Commanders and Flag Star Football, which was founded in 2014 in McLean, Va. Flag Star Football served 14,000 players and provided over 1,600 scholarships last year alone.
"Flag Star Football was started to ensure children had access to a fun, inclusive community where they could learn a new sport and the values that come with it," said Carl Ehrlich, founder & CEO of Flag Star Football. "This collaboration with the Commanders will expand that access and allow us to provide more positive experiences that encourage personal development."
The Commanders will support the camps by providing Fan Packs and Commanders game film for educational purposes. Washington Legends also will attend events, offering their expertise to help build participants' foundational skills and interest in the sport.
