After not participating in Thursday's practice for precautionary reasons due to a calf injury, Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan is among those questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
This week's injury report is brought to you by Inova, the Official Health System of the Washington Redskins.
The Washington Redskins will head into Sunday's regular season finale against the New York Giants with linebackers Ryan Anderson (knee) and Zach Brown (illness/knee/Achilles) along with defensive lineman Ziggy Hood (elbow) ruled out for the contest.
Wide receivers Robert Davis (concussion) and Maurice Harris (back), guard Kyle Kalis (ankle/back), defensive lineman Terrell McClain (toe) and linebackers Ryan Kerrigan (calf) and Martrell Spaight (illness/ankle) are questionable for the Week 17 game.
Kerrigan was a new addition to the injury report on Thursday after the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker was held out of practice with calf soreness.
Since being selected with the No. 16-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Purdue product has started all 111 of his regular season appearances.
This season, the 29-year-old has collected 44 tackles along with 11 sacks, two fumbles forced, two passes defensed and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown.
If Kerrigan – who returned to practice on Friday -- is able to play on Sunday, he'll become the first player in Redskins history to start all 16 games in each of his first seven NFL seasons.
He'd also join Brandon Carr, Deon Grant, James Laurinaitis and Tony Parrish as the only defensive players in the NFL to accomplish the feat since the adoption of the 16-game schedule in 1978.
"Let's not jinx anybody up here," said Redskins head coach Jay Gruden when asked about the prospects of Kerrigan continuing his consecutive starts streak. "He's just been very durable, reliable and productive. Those three adjective are hard to come by nowadays and we are fortunate to have him."
While Kerrigan could remain in the lineup, Washington will once again be without both Anderson and Brown.
Anderson's rookie season concludes with 15 tackles in 14 games. While his numbers aren't outstanding, Gruden says he's expecting more out of the 2017 second-round pick next season.
"I think overall, just learning the game and the grind of a 16-week season has been good for him," Gruden said. "I just talked to him [the other day] and I really expect guys from year one to year two to make the significant jump. Get their feet wet year one, understand what it's all about, what the season's like, what they need to do with their body in the offseason to get ready for the second year. So, I think it's been a good experience for him."
Brown, meanwhile, has missed the last three games for the Redskins with lower body injuries. Through the first 13 weeks of the season, the 2017 Pro Bowler led the league in tackles with 127.
Since being sidelined, the Redskins have relied on the duo of Zach Vigil and Spaight in the middle of the defense.
As for Hood, he suffered a dislocated elbow in last Sunday's victory over the Denver Broncos. With his absence against New York, Washington will use a five-man defensive line rotation.
