The Washington Redskins announced Saturday they have signed cornerback Garnell Wilds to the active 53-man roster. Wilds wears jersey No. 38.

Wilds, 5-11 and 189 pounds, spent the first 12 weeks of the season on the team's practice squad. He is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Virginia Tech.

To make room on the roster, the team released linebacker Billy Strother.
