The Redskins have completed the signing of offensive tackle Trent Williams, the team announced on Friday.

To make room for Williams on the roster, the Redskins released defensive lineman Trey Jacobs and placed offensive lineman Mike Williams on the reserve/non-football illness list.

The fourth overall selection in last April's NFL Draft, Williams joined the Redskins for practice on Friday morning.

He was a training camp holdout for one day.

"I just went with what my agents thought was best," he said. "Obviously I wanted to be here in camp, so they did what they had to do."

Williams admitted he was somewhat anxious when the Redskins opened camp on Thursday without him.

"I was nibbling at the bit just to drive by and see what was going on, but I tried to my best to stay occupied," he said.

He did not sleep at all Thursday night as he waited to hear word of negotiations.

In the end, Williams turned out to be true to his word.

In mid-June, Williams spoke with reporters after a mini-camp practice and he guaranteed that he would not miss significant time due to his contract situation.

"We were kind of prepared to miss one day," he said. "But I kind of urged my agents that I didn't want to miss any more."

At his first training camp practice, Williams started at left tackle with the first-team offense, just as he did during off-season work.

Williams played college football at Oklahoma, where he started 39 games for the Sooners, 12 at left tackle and 27 at right tackle. As a senior, he was named a first-team All-American.
