Chuck Cook is entering his eighth season with Washington after joining the organization during the 2017 offseason.
Prior to joining Washington, Cook previously spent six seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 2011-16. He served in various capacities in his time with the Bills, including two seasons each as Director of College Scouting, as a national scout and as an area scout.
Before his time in Buffalo, Cook spent two seasons with the Miami Dolphins as a regional scout, focusing on the Southwest region in the Dolphins' system from 2008-10. He also spent 11 years as the Director of College Scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1997-2007. In that role, Cook was in charge of coordinating the team's college scouting and preparation for the annual NFL Draft after being promoted to the position in May of 1997. He had previously spent 13 years as a regional scout in the Chiefs' system, focusing primarily on the Southeast.
Cook joined the NFL ranks in 1984, when he was originally hired by the Chiefs after serving as an offensive assistant with the USFL's Arizona Wranglers (1982-83). He began his coaching career at the University of Wyoming from 1980-81. Cook starred as a wide receiver, running back and defensive back at Southern Mississippi and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 1993. Following his collegiate career, he was a member of training camps with the New York Giants and New York Jets before embarking on his off-the-field career. He followed the path of his father, Hamp, who served as a scout for the New Orleans Saints for many years.
A native of Andalusia, Ala., Cook earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Mississippi. He and his wife, Carla, have twin daughters, Carley and Cori, and a son, Colby.
