Dwaune Jones is entering his first season as a national scout for the Washington Commanders after working for the Atlanta Falcons for the past three seasons. He most recently served as the assistant director of college scouting from 2021-24. Previously, Jones served as an area scout for the Baltimore Ravens from 2016-21 and a regional scout for the New Orleans Saints from 2005-16.
In 2021, Jones joined the Falcons as the assistant director of college scouting under current Tennessee Titans Assistant General Manager Anthony Robinson. The Falcons would draft TE Kyle Pitts, WR Drake London, and RB Bijan Robinson during his tenure.
Jones spent the previous four seasons with the Ravens as a college scout covering schools in the Midwest region. He scouted the Big Ten and MAC, several schools in the SEC, Conference USA and ACC conferences. Players that were drafted in his area included QB Lamar Jackson, RB J.K. Dobbins, LB Malik Harrison and G Ben Bredeson.
Prior to Baltimore, Jones spent 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints' scouting department as a Midwest area scout and Northern regional scout. During his tenure at the Saints, he helped scout DE Kasim Edebali, RB Chris Ivory, S Malcolm Jenkins, T Zach Strief, CB Tracy Porter and WR Marques Colston.
A former NFL wide receiver, Jones played from 2000-02 with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, originally signing with the Browns as a rookie free agent in 2000. Jones also spent a year with the Berlin Thunder and participated in World Bowl IX, catching six passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 53-yard TD reception over Barcelona.
A McLean, Va. native, Jones attended the University of Richmond where he was a three-year starter and recorded 146 catches for 1,994 yards and 15 touchdowns. Jones and his wife, Jessica, have three children: Jasmine, Jocelyn and D.J.
