Masahiro "Hagi" Takahagi is entering his fifth season with Washington and his third as the team's Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Takahagi oversees the team's state-of-the-art Recovery Center. The innovative center features photobiomoduation therapy, sensory deprivation orbs, cryotherapy and a dedicated space for sports vision training. He specializes in sports science to develop physical performance systems and programs to help players in daily recovery and over all athletic development.
Prior to joining the organization, Takahagi spent eight years as an assisant athletic trainer for football an golf at Temple University. While at Temple, he was responsible for preventing, evaluating, treating, and rehabing injuries to the Owls' football and men's golf teams.
Takahagi served as a seasonal intern athletic trainer with the Redskins during the 2011-12 NFL season. He also served as a summer intern for the New Orleans Saints from 2006-08.
Takahagi is a certified athletic trainer and holds several other certifications: National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NRAEMT), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM-CES), Certified Active Release Techniques (ART), Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP), and Certified Graston Techniques Practitioner. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Takahagi is a 2008 graduate of Methodist University where he received a bachelor's degree in athletic training and sports management. The Dean's List student earned a master's degree in higher education with a concentration in sports management from Auburn University in 2011 while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the 2010 BCS National Champion football team. In 2019, he earned his Doctor of Athletic Training degree from Temple.
