The Washington Commanders have ruled out cornerback Marshon Lattimore, wide receiver Dyami Brown, offensive tackle Andrew Wylie, linebacker Jordan Magee, safety Tyler Owens for their Week 17 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
Lattimore, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury since he was traded to the Commanders from the New Orleans Saints, left last week's game with the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter and did not return. He did not participate in practice all week.
Lattimore played well in his two games against the Saints and Eagles, doing exactly what the team expected from a four-time Pro Bowler. He was not targeted at all in New Orleans, eliminating an entire half of the field for Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. He was tested far more often against the Eagles and followed wide receiver A.J. Brown around the field. Brown still made eight catches for 97 yards but only caught about half his targets. Lattimore ended the day with three pass breakups, all of which were intended for Brown.
The Commanders will have another difficult task this weekend, when Drake London and Darnell Mooney come to Northwest Stadium. It's unclear at this point how the Commanders will adjust to Lattimore being out, but they did send Benjamin St-Juste out once Lattimore left the field. In that case, the three primary cornerbacks could be St-Juste, Noah Igbinoghene and rookie Mike Sainristil.
On offense, the Commanders will be without Brown, who had a 51-yard catch last week against the Eagles' secondary. Brown has been a solid presence on screen passes this season with a knack for finding open space. He was starting to get a larger role because of Noah Brown's kidney injury, but now that he is out as well, the Commanders will need to look elsewhere for production at receiver.
On the offensive line, offensive tackle Wylie has been ruled out with a groin injury. The likely option for the Commanders to replace him will be veteran Cornelius Lucas, who filled the role the last time Wylie had to leave the field.
Special teams contributors Owens (ankle) and Magee (hamstring) have also been ruled out.
Jonathan Allen (pectoral) and Marcus Mariota (personal) have been listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Allen has is in the 21-day window to be activated from Injured Reserve and has been practicing for the past two weeks He was a full participant in practice this week, and there is confidence that he will make his return this weekend after initially thought to be out for the season.
