The Washington Commanders are beginning the second offseason of the Dan Quinn-Adam Peters regime. After making it to the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles, they now know where they stand in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Commanders received the No. 29 overall pick after a 12-5 regular season finish and a deep playoff run. With 2024 No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels at quarterback, the team jumped out to a 7-2 start, secured its first winning season since 2016 and its first playoff appearance since 2020. It was their first 12-win campaign since the 1991 season, which was also their last Super Bowl appearance.

The exact spots for Washington's remaining picks will be determined at a later date.

Washington holds the 29th overall pick for the third time in franchise history and the first since 1962. At that point in the NFL's history, the No. 29 overall pick came in the third round. The team selected Penn State linebacker Bob Mitinger with that pick, although he ended up playing in the AFL with the San Diego Chargers, who drafted him in the fifth round of their league's draft.

Daniels, Peters' first pick as Washington's general manager, was a monumental success for the franchise. The former LSU Tiger put together one of the best rookie seasons in league history with 4,459 total yards, 31 total touchdowns and a 70.5 QBR in the regular season. In the playoffs, Daniels had 822 passing yards -- the most among all quarterbacks through the conference championship -- with 85.7 QBR. The Commanders ultimately ended their season in the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles, but they found a foundational piece of their future for years to come.

The Commanders will not be hunting for a quarterback this year but could still find a solid piece at their current draft spot. They could address many other positions, including offensive tackle, cornerback and more. Over the last two years, the pick's history includes Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton in 2024 and Clemson defensive tackle Bryan Bresee in 2023.

Washington currently has seven picks in this year's draft:

  • Round 1
  • Round 2
  • Round 3 (from PHI)
  • Round 5 (from NO)
  • Round 7
  • Round 7 (from PHI)
  • Round 7 (from PHI)
