The Washington Commanders have signed veteran kicker Austin Seibert to the active roster.

Seibert, a fifth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2019, has played in 31 games over his five-year career. He was most recently with the New York Jets in 2023, when he appeared in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The move to add Seibert comes after the Commanders chose to release Cade York, who went 0-for-2 on field goal attempts during their 37-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has hit 80.4% of his 56 career field goal attempts and 90.3% of his extra point attempts.

"I think it just really goes to show we have really high standards," head coach Dan Quinn said during his Monday press conference. "That's kind of where we're at to say, 'Hey, we're knocking back off of this'...not one time to keep attacking and finding ways to go get better."

After spending his rookie season with the Brown and being waived following Week 1 of the 2020 season, he was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals and stayed with the team for the rest of the season. He spent the next two years with the Detroit Lions, where he played nine games and hit 76.5% of his field goals along with all 12 of his extra points.

Seibert had two stints with the Jets in 2023 and spent a portion of the season on the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

Seibert played college football at Oklahoma, serving as the Sooners' kicker and punter. He scored 499 points in his college career, which was an NCAA record at the time.

The Commanders have also signed rookie offensive tackle Anim Dankwah to their practice squad. Dankwah, who played college football at Howard University, measured at 6-foot-8 and 353 pounds at the combine and was a First Team All-MEAC selection in 2023. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.
