Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn addressed the media following the team's weekend break to deliver some final thoughts on the 26-18 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles before moving on to the Week 12 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some of the highlights from his press conference.
Positive news on Marshon Lattimore.
The Commanders made waves around the league when they made the trade for four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Up to this point, however, he has yet to suit up or play in a game for the Burgundy & Gold.
That might be changing soon.
"I'm hopeful that he's able to see the field some, he's trending in the right space," Quinn said. He's still working really hard from the rehab spot to see where he can go."
It's certainly a positive sign for Lattimore and the Commanders. They will need him as they try to make a push for the playoffs. His hamstring injury, plus the need for him to get up to speed on the Commanders' terminology, are the main factors that have kept him out of practice and games so far.
On the latter, Quinn said Lattimore is learning "as quick as he can" to add his talents to the Commanders' secondary. As for the former, the reality is that soft tissue injuries are tricky and sensitive to manage. There's no doubt the Commanders could have used him against the Steelers and Eagles if he was healthy, but his long absence is not a surprise to the team. As they have stated before, they take all player injuries seriously and put their health above everything else.
"We're just not going to take the chance if it's not all the way ready, and good news, we're trending in a really strong way and we'll see what the week looks like, but we're moving in the right way, that's for sure," Quinn said.

Back to a normal schedule.
Quinn stated "clearly and honestly" that quarterback Jayden Daniels "is not injured" after dealing with a rib issue that kept him out of practice heading into the game against the Chicago Bears. That did, however, affect the amount of practice reps he got with his teammates.
"That's hard on all the guys," Quinn said. "It's a really, really important part of what we do."
The decreasing number of practice reps was particularly difficult last week. "It's not as if we didn't practice," Quinn said, but a truncated scheduled between the Steelers and Eagles games can be a difficult transition for any team. It's had a drastic effect on the offense's rhythm and timing, as shown by moments against the Eagles where a pass from Daniels intended for Noah Brown landed at the wide receiver's feet.
Quinn added that the Commanders are looking forward to a full week of practice to smooth out those issues.
"I know that I'm sounding like a little bit of a broken record, but it is such an important piece to what we do, to work your skills really hard. The concept hasn't changed, in other words, there's not a new route, but it may be the little different leverages that a team may have. So honestly, getting back into those are a big deal."
Dallas Week.
Quinn knows the importance of this week for the Commanders. The need to get back on track after losing back-to-back games trumps everything, but it's an added bonus that the Commanders can do so against a struggling Dallas Cowboys team.
"I think it's awesome, number one because here's two iconic franchises getting to go battle for it in the division," Quinn said. "We're fortunate that we get to do it this game here at home. And that's a big deal when you're in the division of getting to play in at home and your crowd behind you and ripping for every chance that you can be loud and make a difference."
The Cowboys (3-6) have not had their ideal season thanks in part to several injuries, most notably to Dak Prescott, who is currently on Injured Reserve. Cooper Rush is now the team's starting quarterback, and they have lost their last four games. Their season has been teetering for a month, although that shouldn't stop them from coming to Northwest Stadium prepared to hand the Commanders a third straight loss.
