First joining the Redskins as a free agent signing in 2015, Deshazor Everett moved from cornerback to safety and has since become a consistent contributor for both the defensive and special teams units.
The Washington Redskins announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed safety Deshazor Everett to a multi-year contract.
Full terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Additionally, the team announced that they have waived running backs Dare Ogunbowale and Kenny Hilliard along with tackle Kevin Bowen.
Everett, 26, has spent the last three seasons with the Redskins after originally signing with Washington as a free agent during the team's 2015 training camp.
During his time with the Redskins, the Texas A&M product has appeared in 41 games, recording 89 tackles according to NFL.com along with six passes defensed, one interception and one fumble forced.
After appearing in 11 games a rookie, Everett played in all 16 games during the 2016 season. In a Week 14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles that year, Everett recorded his first career interception when he picked off a Carson Wentz pass in the end zone.
In 2017, Everett appeared in 14 contests and recorded personal bests in total tackles (62), solo tackles (41) and passes defensed (five). He also recorded his first career fumble forced in a 27-11 victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 16.
Everett received his first career start in the team's regular season opener against the Eagles, recording seven tackles. In total, he would start eight games.
In Week 14, the DeRidder, La., native recorded a career-high 11 tackles against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was the first of two games in which Everett tallied a double-digit tackle total, as he recorded 10 tackles against the New York Giants in the regular season finale.
Along with his 589 defensive snaps, Everett also appeared on 235 special teams plays, third most by a Redskins player behind only cornerback Fabian Moreau and linebacker Chris Carter.
Everett led the unit in both total special team tackles (10) and solo special teams tackles (seven) according to coaches' film.
With his re-signing, Everett joins D.J. Swearinger, Fish Smithson and Montae Nicholson among other safeties on Washington's offseason roster. The team signed Orion Stewart to a Reserve/Future deal in January but 14-year veteran DeAngelo Hall is currently set to become an unrestricted free agent.
