The Redskins will open their slate of NFC East games when they host their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, at FedExField. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.

The Redskins will play their fi rst divisional game of the season in Week 7. It marks the latest the Redskins have opened divisional play since Week 7 of the 2012 season when the team played at the New York Giants.

Among the lore of the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry, 58 of the 114 games played during the regular season have been decided by seven or fewer points with 25 of those contests decided by three points or less.

During his weekly Monday press conference with the media, Head Coach Jay Gruden answered questions on the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry to open what Washington fans have dubbed 'Cowboys Week'.

"It's a game that everybody circles on their calendar. It's going to be a packed house and we have to use that emotion to our benefi t," said Gruden. "We have to get the crowd involved. We have to get out to a fast start because once FedExField starts rocking, it's a great benefi t to us."

THE OPPONENT

The Dallas Cowboys enter the rivalry game with a 3-3 record on the season. Head coach Jason Garrett returns to lead the team for his ninth season. Garrett owns a career record of 70-56 over his tenure in Dallas.

Quarterback Dak Prescott is off to another strong start, and will play in his 39th consecutive game to begin his career. Prescott is 106-for-171, for 1,144 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions this season. In addition, Prescott has rushed for 203 yards on 34 attempts, for one touchdown.

2016 Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott returns as one of the most explosive running backs in the National Football League. Elliott has tallied 117 rushing attempts, for 586 yards and 3 touchdowns, and is averaging 97.7 yards per game.

Dak Prescott has spread the wealth early in the season, with six players already over 100 yards receiving. Veteran wide receiver Cole Beasley has become Prescott's favorite target, with a team leading 26 receptions, 294 yards and two touchdowns. Tavon Austin has seven receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns, including two plays of over 40 yards.

Tight end Geoff Swaim has emerged out of the shadow of the now retired tight end Jason Witten, to set career marks. Swaim has 16 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown, all of which are career highs.

Dallas is led by two young linebackers, who have quickly made their mark on the league. Second year linebacker Jaylon Smith has recorded a team high 50 tackles (31 solo, 19 assisted), as well as three sacks and a force fumble. Rookie Leighton Vander Esch has tallied 49 tackles (including a team high 40 solo).

Veterans Sean Lee and Demarcus Lawrence have continued to be effective for the young Cowboys defense. Lee has 20 tackles and 0.5 sacks in just three games, while Lawrence has a team high 5.5 sacks and 23 total tackles.

After moving on from the veteran kicker Dan Bailey, rookie Brett Maher has been stellar early on. Maher is a perfect 10-for-10 on PAT's and is 15-for-16 on field goals. This includes three kicks of over 50 yards, including a career high 55 yards.

Sunday's matchup between the Redskins and Cowboys will mark the 117th overall meeting between the division rivals. It will be the 115th regular season meeting between the two franchises.

The Redskins trail the all-time regular season series, 44-70-2. Washington won both of the teams' postseason meetings, including victories in the 1972 and 1982 NFC Championship games.

The Redskins will be looking to snap a four-game skid against the Cowboys and earn their fi rst win since Week 17 of the team's NFC East championship season in 2015.
