The Redskins will return home in Week 6 when the team plays host to the Carolina Panthers at FedExField. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

The Redskins closed the fi rst quarter of their schedule with a 2-2 record and will look to extend some of their success on defense after forcing a turnover in eight consecutive games.

Washington's active streak of forcing a turnover currently ranks third in the NFL. The highlight of Sunday's game will feature the Redskins' annual Breast Cancer Awareness initiative, which kicks off the team's awareness efforts throughout the entire month of October.

Fans attending the Oct. 14 game will be welcomed by Tanya Snyder, wife of Redskins owner Dan Snyder, and hundreds of Zeta Tau Alpha members distributing THINK-PINK!® ribbons and breast cancer awareness educational materials.

WOW and Mrs. Snyder will also welcome the Redskins Charitable Foundation's All-Stars, 30 women currently battling breast cancer, along with WOW members and breast cancer survivors, in a special pink-themed pregame party.

THE OPPONENT

The Carolina Panthers enter FedEx Field with a 3-1 record at their quarter mark of season. Head coach Ron Rivera is back for his eighth season as leader of the Panthers, and owns a career record of 67-48-1 over 116 games.

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton returns to lead the Panthers who look to return to the postseason for the second straight season. Newton is 85-for-130 for 883 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions this year.

Running back Christian McCaffrey leads a potent and diverse rushing attack for Carolina this season. McCaffrey leads the team with 329 yards rushing on 63 attempts, but is joined by quarterback Cam Newton with 165 yards rushing and three touchdowns, and backup C.J. Anderson who has tallied 16 attempts for 84 yards this season.

The Panthers receiving corps is also diverse, with McCaffrey leading the team in receptions with 27 for 192 yards and a touchdown. Devin Funchess has recorded the most yards with 238 on 18 receptions for one touchdown. Jarius Wright and D.J. Moore are also over 100 yards on the season with a touchdown each.

Carolina's defense features one of the most prominent defensive players in the league in linebacker Luke Kuechly. The five time Pro Bowler was the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year and leads the team with 29 total tackles, one interception and a sack. Joining him in the front seven is the talented Shaq Thompson, who has added 22 tackles of his own and a sack.

In the secondary, rookie Donte Jackson is making an early impression with 25 tackles, three interceptions and a force fumble. Safety Mike Adams has tallied two early interceptions as well, along with 20 total tackles.

Veteran kicker Graham Gano is off to a perfect start this season, going 11-for-11 on PAT's and 7-for-7 on field goals. One of those field goals was a career long, game winning, 62 yard field goal last weekend against the New York Giants.

SERIES HISTORY

Sunday's game between the Redskins and Panthers will mark the 14th meeting between the two teams all-time. The series dates back to the teams' first meeting on Dec. 24, 1995, when the Redskins defeated the first-year Panthers, 20-17, in the season finale at RFK Stadium.

The Redskins won each of the first six meetings and hold a 7-6 lead in the all-time series, but Carolina has won each of the teams' last five meetings since 2009. A win on would give the Redskins their first victory against the Panthers since Nov. 26, 2006.
