It was a memorable Thursday night in Atlanta for Rob Kelley, for a variety of reasons.
The more recognizable reason was what he did on the field against the Falcons. The Tulane product made the most of his first NFL game action with 40 yards rushing, 13 receiving yards and the team's first touchdown of the preseason.
Then there was the reaction that followed.
It makes sense that unless you've attended training camp over the last two weeks or have followed practices closely (preferably on this fine website), you hadn't heard of Kelley, battling for the third running back spot on the team, until he stepped onto the Georgia Dome turf.
So, as fans on Twitter saw the scoring graphics and heard his name repeated throughout the drive, they realized that his name, or at least the first initial and his last name, was identical to R. Kelly, the singer. And so, Twitter did what Twitter does best, which is supply these notions with puns using R. Kelly song lyrics.
This the remix to the Redskins

Kelley was apparently amused. He even retweeted some fans. Though I just can't believe this was the first time he's heard those puns before.
