After weeks of waiting, the Redskins finally announced the trade bringing Alex Smith from Kansas City to Washington as the team's new starting quarterback on Wednesday. But the bigger business awaited.
Before his introductory press conference on Thursday, Smith had the opportunity to walk around the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park in the afternoon – greeting President Bruce Allen, head coach Jay Gruden and other coaches and employees – to give his first interviews. In the process, he also signed his multi-year contract extension, ensuring his future in Washington.
