Austin Reiter did his homework after joining the Redskins as a seventh-round pick in May.
One of the first things Reiter – a center out of South Florida – did after making it official with the Redskins was look up the team's history.
Of course, you don't have to go very far to see "The Hogs'" impact on the team.
On Monday at the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation's Inaugural Golf Classic, Reiter met some of "The Hogs," most notably Jeff Bostic who played the same center position Reiter does now.
Reiter was also among the rookies who got to handle one of Bostic's Super Bowl rings, a moment he said he'll never forget.
"It was really cool," he said. "I've definitely done my research about the players, 'The Hogs.' It was definitely a cool experience to get to meet him and talk to him for a little bit and everything he's gone through as a 14-year veteran. He's probably done everything he's wanted to do as far as a NFL career goes."
And while it's often a position rarely talked about, Reiter said Bostic is among the centers he's tried to emulate his game after.
For more recent guys, he likens himself to David Baas, a longtime player in the NFL.
"I've got certain guys that I like to watch do certain things," he said. "I don't really know any at the top of my head. I got to work with Davis Baas during the combine training that I was doing. He lived down the street from me. His film is phenomenal. That's someone that I definitely like to watch that is a current player."
