There are a lot of benefits to being a top-five pick in the NFL Draft.
One of them is gaining Twitter followers.
Before the Redskins chose Brandon Scherff with the fifth overall pick, the offensive lineman's follower count sat around 3,300.
Then Roger Goodell took the stage. Then he made the announcement. Then he shook the hand of the Iowa big man.
Then Scherff's follower count exploded.
As of 5 p.m. Friday, Scherff had more than 10,000 followers.
Not a bad one day spike. I'm sure he'll have plenty more once he hits the field.
