The Washington Capitals are playing some outstanding hockey this season, having won seven games in a row, following Wednesday night's 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Verizon Center.

So, if you're Chris Baker, why wouldn't you seek help from the NHL's hottest team in trying to secure a long-term deal with the Washington Redskins?

That's exactly what Baker is looking to do, according to his latest Instagram post, which shows him and Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan at a recent Capitals game at Verizon Center. Baker, of course, is all decked out in an awesome Capitals jersey, showing his full support for the team.

Baker -- who's currently a free agent -- has come a long way with the Redskins. Over the last six seasons, Baker grinded his way from Washington's practice squad onto their active roster, and has become a mainstay on the defensive line, having played in all 32 games over the last two seasons, with 26 starts.

"I've just worked myself up the depth chart each and every year, and just continued to try and improve myself each and every year," Baker said. "Ever since I got a chance, I have shown what type of player I can be. I think I've done a really good job over the past couple years and playing at a high level."

Baker has built something solid with the Redskins, and, if everything falls in place for him and Washington, he would love to continue on with the team.

"I went out each and every week and put it out all on the line," Baker said. "Hopefully everything works out, and I can stay here, and be a Redskin and retire a Redskin."
