The Washington Commanders ended their 2024 season with an exciting playoff run, and now they're joining the throng of people rooting for another DMV team looking to win a championship.
Members of the Commanders' roster, including quarterback Jayden Daniels, were in the front row at Capital One Arena cheering on the Washington Capitals in the second game of their series against the Montreal Canadiens. Daniels was joined by 11 other Commanders' players, including fellow quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Sam Hartman as well as several of the team's offensive linemen.
Daniels and his teammates even got a special shoutout during the game, which drew a round of cheers from the fans in attendance. He even treated a lucky fan to a signed football that he threw into the stands.
Meanwhile, Hartman grabbed a microphone and told the crowd to "Make some noise!" That was after Hartman chugged a beer while Daniels and Mariota hyped him up.
Daniels and the Commanders were also dressed for the part. They were wearing red and black Capitals jerseys for the playoff game, most of which featured No. 8 for Alex Ovechkin, who broke Wayne Gretzky's career goals record earlier this month.
The Capitals ended up running away with the game, scoring two goals in the second period to take a 3-1 win. Washington offensive linemen Sam Cosmi, Nick Allegretti and Tyler Deiter celebrated the victory, which moved the Capitals to 2-0 in the series, by chugging a few beers, but that wasn't the end of the night. Daniels and his teammates got to meet members of the Capitals team, including Ovechkin himself. Daniels even got a stick signed by the future Hall of Famer.
It was a cool moment for D.C. sports fans, as one of the area's greatest athletes embraced another who hopes to have as iconic of a career.
