You might be familiar with Lamont Roach Jr. at this point.
He's part of the NoXCuses Boxing Club, based in Washngton, D.C., and, as such, is a big Redskins fan.
He and his teammates visited Redskins Park during the summer and spent a day in Richmond, Va., for Training Camp in August. Their visit and story are chronicled here.
Roach is a rising star and moving up the ranks from the "prospect class" to the "contender" class. This summer he promised to wear a Redskins logo in his next big match, and on Oct. 17, he came through at Madison Square Garden, wearing burgundy shorts and a robe with one.
He remained undefeated (9-0, 3 KO's) after defeating Mexican Jose Bustos in a six-round decision.
"Bustos came to fight," Roach said afterward. "He was not backing down throughout the fight but I did not feel threatened by him. I feel like I dominated the fight and was giving him my all. I wanted to end the fight impressively via knock out but he has a strong jaw. This is my last six-rounder and will move up to eight rounds in my next fight, very excited to go there."
Roach even snagged a picture with former tight end Chris Cooley afterward. I'm sure that was just as good as winning.
