Rookie safety Kyshoen Jarrett stopped by Redskins Late Night earlier this week and might be the most fashionable guest of this season, mostly because of that hat.
Host Chris Paul, always interested in a player's first foray into the league, asked Jarrett about his expectations of the NFL and how they've changed, if at all, since becoming a regular starter on the defense.
"I mean at the end of the day it's just football," Jarrett said. "I mean, you can't try and overthink it. It's something I've always done and it's led me to where I am today. When those days may get real tough or maybe difficult, you just have to go back to the fundamentals that you always know. It's cool to me. Everything has just been going smoothly."
Like most athletes, Jarrett wanted to play at the highest level as he played through high school and into college. But it wasn;t until his junior year when he realized being a professional might actually be in his future.
"[At] Virginia Tech, I was a starting safety, that was my second year, and I just felt like I had that ability," Jarrett said. "I had a great position coach, Torrian Gray, and head coach Frank Beamer, and I just felt like the growth that they helped me over the many years allowed me to feel that way to play at this level."
You can catch the full interview and episode this Sunday at 1:30 a.m. on NBC-4.
