The MMQB's Andy Benoit delivered picks for his mid-season All-Pro team based on his specialty: film study.
Instead of advanced stats and metrics, much like Pro Football Focus uses, Benoit chose up to three players at each position as worthy of receiving his praise based on the eye-ball test, his eye-ball test, that he jokingly assures every football fan will have a problem with.
But Benoit makes these terms clear up front, and doesn't always believe individual stats and play-by-play grading is necessarily the best measurement to assess someone's performance.
With this in mind, Benoit chose Trent Williams as one of two tackles to receive a spot on the list.
"Has been much steadier employing his off-the-charts athleticism in Washington's zone running game. Can also be trusted to spar with elite pass rushers on an island," writes Benoit.
Williams of course is part of an offensive line that has the lowest percentage rate (2.83) of sacks allowed this season, though is struggling to get the ground game going.
"When you're playing from behind, the run game is not effective," Williams said earlier this week. "Obviously when we pass the ball 40 times, you get used to pass blocking. You probably get a little better at it. I think that was one of the areas we wanted to improve on coming into this year, and we're doing so as of right now. Obviously we're just half way through the season, so we don't want to take anything for granted."
