On Friday at Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park in Loudon Country, Va., Petty Officer – Second Class Jamie L. Hunter re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy for another six years. Hunter is an aircraft mechanic and is currently serving with Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic Detachment at Patuxent River, Md.
The sailor is has been a diehard Redskins fan his whole life and is a native of Triangle, Va.
"It is unreal that I got to come here and I am really happy to be here with my family," Hunter said. "I signed up for the Redskins Salute two years ago. I got tickets to a pre-season game against the Browns and I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was and it was great."
Petty Officer Hunter's family accompanied him at the ceremony along with his good friend and fellow Redskins fan Senior Chief Petty Officer Claburn.
"This has been a wonderful experience and I couldn't thank the Redskins enough. The amount of effort that has been put in and the hospitality has been amazing," Claburn said. "You would never imagine how much a Redskins game carries me on a ninth month deployment."
The Hunter family got to enjoy a tour around the team's facility and even got to catch a couple touchdown passes in the Redskins' Indoor Training Facility. The Redskins continue their longstanding relationship with veterans and honoring those who serve.
