Trent Williams knows a bit about the New York Giants – he's started four games against them in his career. But it turns out he's not the only member of his family who knows about the rivalry.
The rivalry between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants spans multiple generations, and Cousins' has a great uncle who knows about the matchup from when it was still young. That great uncle is former Giants and Redskins player, Dick Woodard.
Woodard, now 90 years old, played five years in the NFL, including the 1952 season with the Redskins. He also played in three seasons with the Giants in 1950-51 and 1953. Woodard played both linebacker and center in his career, the latter of which he mostly played with the Redskins.
Among Woodard's teammates throughout his career were hall of famers Sammy Baugh, Tom Landry and Frank Gifford.
Overall, Woodard's teams were 5-3 in Redskins/Giants matchups. Cousins picked up his first win as a starter over Giants during the Redskins push towards an NFC East title last season. Now he looks to make it two straight with a win Sunday in New York.
