The Washington Redskins announced today that they have released defensive end Phillip Merling and waived kicker John Potter.
The Redskins added defensive end Jarvis Jenkins and outside linebacker Rob Jackson back to the roster after both finished four game suspensions.
Merling, 28, appeared in three games for the Redskins this season after signing with the team on a Reserve/Futures contract on Jan. 8, 2013.
Potter, 23, kicked in three games, converting 3-of-4 field goal attempts and 7-of-7 PATs. He signed with the team on Sept. 14, 2013.
