With the regular season now officially complete, draft super analyst Mel Kiper Jr. published selections for his 2015 his All-Rookie team.
Two Redskins made it (!), and two others were highly considered, which should be the case considering this year's crop of Redskins rookies mined considerable playing time and made a significant impact on the team's run to the playoffs.
Making the list at guard was Brandon Scherff, who only missed one snap the entire season and had the difficult task of switching from left tackle to right guard and made it look rather simple. He shared the spot with Ali Marpet of the Buccaneers.
On the defensive side, specifically at outside linebacker, Preston Smith got Kiper's vote along with Markus Golden of the Cardinals.
"Smith really turned it up later in the season and became a big part of that defense," Kiper writes. "He also led all rookies in sacks with 8.0."
Kiper has an "also considered" portion below each position to show that he's been paying attention to more than just the big names. He has Jamison Crowder in with the wide receiver crew and also put in Quinton Dunbar, who switched from offense to defense in training camp, with the group of rookie cornerbacks.
For further clarification, Kiper explains that he graded his choices based on all games this season, total snap counts, positional value (overall performance and impact on team) and relative value (would a player start on most teams?).
