The Pro Football Hall of Fame took it way back for Throwback Thursday this afternoon, tweeting out a still image from a game between the Boston Braves (Washington Redskins) and Portsmouth Spartans (Detroit Lions) that took place on Oct. 15, 1933.
While the Braves would ultimately lose the game 13-0, it's pretty cool to see shots like these circulating on the Internet more than 80 years later.
The 1933 season was the second in the franchise's existence. Perhaps the most notable name on the roster that year was Cliff Battles, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 1968.
During the 1933 season, Battles rushed for 737 yards and three touchdowns. During his time with the franchise, he rushed for 3,511 yards and 23 touchdowns.
