Before he was pushing around opponents with ease at the NFL level and before he was one of three Oklahoma players taken in the top four picks of the 2010 NFL Draft, Washington Redskins Pro Bowl tackle Trent Williams was a dominant player for Longview (Texas) High School.
While at Longview, Williams was a unanimous first-team All-District selection as a senior and earned first-team All-East Texas and second-team Texas all-state.
This came on the heels of a second-team all-district selection as a junior.
On Tuesday evening, Williams returned to his high school as Longview retired his No. 71 jersey during a spring game.
It is only the second football jersey retired at Longview.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine getting my number retired," Williams told KLTV.com. "Especially at a high school like this, which is rich in tradition and our football is religion around here."
