Contrary to popular assumption, if I can coin that new phrase, first-round draft pick Brandon Scherff hasn't spotted any deer around Redskins Park or beside the road in Loudoun County, Va.
The big O-lineman stopped by "Redskins Nation" to discuss how his first week in the NFL went and also opened up about some of his hobbies and traditions off the field.
That includes, as we've noted before, a lot of hunting and fishing.
"I started hunting in about 7th grade and I started fishing early with my dad whenever we could," Scherff said. "We went on Father's Day, so I grew up fishing first, and then hung out with some buddies that started hunting and that kind of interested me and my dad gave me a shotgun and from there it went off."
Scherff, who grew up in Denison, Iowa, said his town has a population of 8,000. That allowed him to play multiple sports in high school, including track, tennis, baseball, football and basketball.
"I tried to get them with the off-speed stuff," he joked about his tennis serve.
