What many consider "the forgotten classic," the 1983 NFC Championship game between the Redskins and the 49ers is now a part of NFL.com's fourth-annual Bracketology, which seeks to determine the greatest NFL game of all time.
The Redskins nail-biting finish, a 24-21 victory at RFK Stadium, is represented as a No. 8 seed in the Dynasty Makers bracket, squaring off against the Cowboys-49ers 1981 NFC Championship game.
Defending their Super Bowl victory the year before, the Redskins, under legendary head coach Joe Gibbs, along with quarterback Joe Theismann, running back John Riggins and wide receiver Charlie Brown, began strong with 21-0 lead.
The 49ers responded and tied the game late in the fourth quarter before the Redskins drove down the field to set up a Mark Moseley game-clinching field goal.
Help this game into the next round by voting now until Friday, March 20.

The winning game is unveiled Sunday, April 5 with the full-game broadcast of that game airing on NFL Network that day at 8:00 PM ET.
Additionally, NFL Network will air a 90-miniute NFL's Greatest Games editions of select games from the bracket from now through Tuesday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. ET. On Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. ET, NFL Network will air the full game broadcasts of the two games featured in the Finals.
Finally, you can access all 32 games featured on the original list on NFL Now, and every game will be available in full on NFL.com.
