This week'sinjury reportis brought to you by,Inova Sports Medicine, the Official Sports Medicine Center, Partner & Provider of the Washington Redskins.
For the second consecutive week, linebacker Ryan Anderson (hamstring) and guard Tony Bergstrom (ankle/knee) will be listed as out on Sunday, as the Redskins prepare to play the first of their final three games.
The more expected absences on the list include quarterback Colt McCoy, who broke his fibula against the Eagles, and tight end Jordan Reed, who injured his toe against the Giants last week. Both will likely miss multiple weeks.
That leaves several players questionable to play against Jacksonville, most notably wide receiver Josh Doctson, who returned to practice on Friday after missing practice both days prior while in concussion protocol.
"I think it's he's practicing and tolerating it the way it is and then we'll evaluate him tonight and tomorrow morning," head coach Jay Gruden said. "If everything is good then he's good."
Among the others listed as questionable are running back Chris Thompson, who was sick Friday, defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis (shin), long snapper Nick Sundberg (lower back), right tackle Morgan Moses (ankle), tackle Ty Nsekhe (knee) and safety Montae Nicholson (illness).
"We have roster decisions to make, yes, possibly," Gruden said. "We're still going through the process on who we want to play and possibly dress. We've got another day or so to figure all of that out."
That will start with Sundberg, who is the most surprising of that group. Gruden said Friday that he had some lower back pain flare up and will be getting an MRI. The team has brought in some long snappers to try out in the case Sundberg is unable to play on Sunday.
"He's had that issue for a little bit of time and I think it's just something we've got to get an MRI and get checked out," Gruden said. "Hopefully everything is OK. If not, we'll get somebody else in here…I don't know if it was deterioration. It was just sore and he had some issues back there."
Without tight end Jordan Reed, the Redskins will need to call up either Matt Flanagan or J.P. Holtz, which will complicate the roster if another "questionable" player, namely Sundberg, is unable to play.
"There's a lot of complicated things we're trying to get cleared up," Grude said. "We have some other guys we are trying to work through to get them up on the roster and some guys that are out a couple of weeks, one week, two weeks, three weeks. We just have to make a decision there and open up a couple roster spots, one, maybe two."
