Series history, broadcast information, connections and more from Sunday's Redskins-Cowboys 2016 regular season Week 2 matchup at FedExField.

REGULAR SEASON WEEK 2WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-1) vs. DALLAS COWBOYS (0-1)

Sunday, Sept. 18 | 1:00 p.m. ET

FedExField (82,000) | Landover, Md.

The Washington Redskins will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 18, when the team hosts the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys at FedExField. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The teams last met in Week 17 of the 2015 season when the Redskins traveled to Dallas with the NFC East already in hand and earned a 34-23 victory. On Sunday, the Redskins will attempt to earn a second straight win against Dallas for the first time since sweeping the Cowboys during the 2012 season.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan will be looking to add to his 5.0 career sacks against Dallas. Kerrigan has recorded 48.5 career sacks, and with 1.5 sacks on Sunday, he can join Dexter Manley and Charles Mann as the only players in franchise history to reach 50 career sacks since the NFL adopted sacks as an official statistic in 1982.

In the season opener, Kerrigan recorded his 18th career forced fumble, the most of any active player since 2011. With another, Kerrigan can tie the now-retired Charles Tillman (19) for the most of any player in that timeframe.

THE OPPONENTThe Dallas Cowboys entered the 2016 season after posting a 4-12 regular season record last year. This year will mark Jason Garrett's sixth full season as the team's head coach. The Cowboys are 0-1 following a 20-19 loss to the New York Giants in Week 1.

Despite injury, Tony Romo sits atop the depth chart at quarterback. The 14-year NFL veteran appeared in only four games last season. In those four games, he completed 83-of-121 passes (68.6 percent) for 884 yards and five touchdowns. In Romo's absence to start the season, the Cowboys have turned to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, a fourthround pick last April. He completed 39-of-50 passes (78.0 percent) for 454 yards and five touchdowns in the preseason. Last week, he completed 25-of-45 passes for 227 yards in his regular season debut.

No. 4 overall pick Ezekiel Elliott is the team's starting running back. Elliott gained 51 yards on 20 carries and scored his first career rushing touchdown in Week 1. Behind Elliott is free agent signing Alfred Morris, who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Redskins from 2012-15. Morris' 4,713 rushing yards with the Redskins rank fifth in team history.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant missed part of the 2015 season with a foot injury sustained in Week 1. He concluded his season with 31 receptions for 401 yards and three touchdowns. Terrance Williams led the Cowboys in receiving yards (840) on 52 receptions with three receiving touchdowns. Tight end Jason Witten started all 16 games last season, recording a team-high 77 receptions for 713 yards and three touchdowns.

Linebacker Sean Lee posted a team-high 128 tackles (76 solo) a season ago. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who led the Cowboys with 8.5 sacks last season, with miss Week 2 while serving a suspension.

Kicker Dan Bailey enters into his seventh season with Dallas after converting 30-of-32 field goal attempts (93.8 percent) in 2015. Punter Chris Jones averaged 45.2 yards on 69 punts last season.

Lucky Whitehead returns as the Cowboys' punt and kickoff returner in his second NFL season. Last season, Whitehead returned 19 punts for 110 yards and 16 kickoffs for 452 yards.

REGULAR SEASON SERIESSunday's matchup between the Redskins and Cowboys will mark the 113th overall meeting between the division rivals. It will be the 111th regular season meeting between the two franchises.

The Redskins trail the all-time regular season series, 42-66-2. Washington won both of the teams' postseason meetings, including victories in the 1972 and 1982 NFC Championship games.

The Redskins won the teams' most recent meeting, a 34-23 victory at AT&T Stadium in Week 17 last season. Quarterback Trent Williams completed 12-of-15 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns before exiting the game in the second quarter. This week, the Redskins seek their first home win against Dallas since a divisionclinching victory at FedExField to conclude the 2012 season.
