The Washington Redskins will seek their fifth straight victory when the team faces the Detroit Lions in Week 7. Kickoff at Ford Field in Detroit is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Redskins will be looking to continue their recent success away from home, as they attempt to open a season 3-0 on the road for the first time since 1999. A win on Sunday would give the Redskins six consecutive road wins, dating back to last season, which would tie the fifth-longest streak in team history. It would also represent the team's first six-game road winning streak since winning their first seven road contests of the 1991 season.

Part of the Redskins' recent resurgence has been the stifling performance of the defense in the last two weeks. The Redskins allowed only 272.5 yards per game in Weeks 5-6, trailing only the Vikings (214.0), Cardinals (258.0) and Titans (270.5) for fewest in the NFL in that time frame. The unit has not allowed an offensive touchdown in its last seven quarters and has not surrendered a touchdown in the second half in any game of the team's current winning streak.

THE OPPONENT
The Detroit Lions enter Week 7 with a 3-3 record and sit in third place in the NFC North following a 31-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions completed their 2015 campaign with a 7-9 record and a third-place finish in the NFC North. Head Coach Jim Caldwell is in his 16th season coaching in the NFL and third season with Detroit.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford is in his eighth season with the Lions after being selected first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. Stafford has completed 146- of-212 passes (68.9 percent) for 1,648 yards and 14 touchdowns through six weeks this season.

Running back Theo Riddick leads the rushing corps with 50 rushing attempts for 171 yards and one touchdown this season. Riddick has also recorded 26 receptions for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Five different players including Riddick have recorded at least 15 carries for the Lions this season.

Wide receivers Marvin Jones Jr. and Anquan Boldin are tied for the Lions' team lead in receptions with 29 each on the season. Jones has gained a team-high 529 yards and four touchdowns on his 29 receptions, while Boldin has registered 244 yards and three touchdowns.

Linebacker Tahir Whitehead leads the defense in tackles, recording 55 on the season thus far (40 solo). Defensive end Kerry Hyder has posted a team-high five sacks in 2016, and three different players are tied for Detroit's team lead in interceptions with one apiece (Glover Quin, Rafael Bush and Darius Slay).

Kicker Matt Prater has made 9-of-10 field goal attempts (90.0 percent) this season. Punter Sam Martin has averaged 50.2 yards per punt on 21 punts. Former Redskin Andre Roberts serves as the Lions' primary return specialist and has returned eight punts for 142 yards and one touchdown and 12 kickoffs for 248 yards this season.
