The* *Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) announced today that Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been named to their annual All-Rookie Team.
With Reed's selection, the Redskins have now had 32 selections to the All-Rookie Team since 1975.
Despite missing seven games in 2013, Reed, 23, finished the season with 45 receptions for 499 yards, which are both Redskins' single-season rookie tight end records.
His 499 receiving yards were second among all rookie tight ends in the NFL, while his 45 receptions ranked tied for seventh in the NFL among all rookies.
Reed led all tight ends in receptions from Weeks 6-11 with 32 receptions, eight more than any other NFL tight end.
In Week 7, Reed set career highs in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (134) in Washington's 45-41 win against Chicago and caught his second career touchdown.
Reed's 134 yards set the team record for receiving yards in a game by a rookie tight end.
The record was previously held by Redskins great Jerry Smith, who registered 78 receiving yards on six catches vs. Dallas on Nov. 28, 1965.
Reed's 134 yards against the Bears were the fourth-most in a game by a Redskins tight end of any experience level.
Reed joins Chris Cooley (2004) as the only Redskins tight ends selected to the All-Rookie Team.
