Kia MVP Of The Game: Alex Smith

Prior to the Week 9 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, quarterback Alex Smith had not thrown for over 300 yards in a game. On Sunday, Smith changed that, throwing for 306 yards and a touchdown, which earned him the Kia MVP of the Game.

Though it was an overall struggle for the Redskins offense, Smith provided a few highlight plays on the afternoon. Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Smith was able to escape a sack and burst down the sideline for a 22-yard run to eventually put the Redskins in the end zone. A few plays later, he connected with receiver Josh Doctson on a fade route for a touchdown.

Smith would play a crucial role in the Redskins' other scoring drive as well. Connecting with receiver Maurice Harris and tight end Vernon Davis multiple times on the drive, Smith marched the Washington offense down the field and set up a Kapri Bibbs rushing touchdown to make it a 28-14 game.

"I feel like we have a lot of room for improvement for us—myself included," Smith said after the loss. "A lot of room to get better. I think it's encouraging but at the same time we have to keep marching."
