Trailing 40-0 in the second half of Sunday's Week 14 contest against the New York Giants, the Redskins were in desperate need of a spark. The offense turned to quarterback Josh Johnson, who had just been signed earlier in the week. When Johnson stepped on the field in third quarter, it his first time experiencing NFL game action in five years.

However, there didn't seem to be much rust, as Johnson quickly became comfortable in the pocket. With the Giants implementing a similar defense as the first half, Johnson was able to find open space both in the air and on the ground.

On his second drive, following an interception by linebacker Mason Foster, the Redskins passer scrambled for an eight-yard touchdown to give Washington its first points of the day. He then connected with tight end Vernon Davis for a two-point conversion. One drive later, Johnson found wide receiver Jamison Crowder for a 79-yard score and receiver Michael Floyd for the two-point conversion to make it a 40-16 game. The passing touchdown was the longest of the quarterback's career.

Johnson finished the day with 195 passing yards and 45 rushing yards, leading the team in both categories. Though Johnson had little time to prepare during the week, and did not receive many live snaps at practice, he made the most of his opportunity on Sunday. For someone who has bounced around the league over the years, it was a fulfilling moment.

"It felt good man, it felt good to really just experience some success with these guys, for my self I mean I haven't played in a long time," Johnson said." I've always been itching to get out there in a real game, I had the opportunity and I just wanted to take advantage of it."
