LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have re-signed unrestricted free agent cornerback Will Blackmon. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Blackmon (6-0, 204) signed with the Redskins in Week 2 last season and appeared in 15 regular season games with a career-high 10 starts during the year, recording career highs in tackles (46), forced fumbles (three) and interceptions (two). He has played in 81 career regular season games with 24 starts, compiling 139 tackles (110 solo), 20 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles, eight fumbles recovered, three interceptions and 3.0 sacks.
Blackmon played collegiately at Boston College, serving as a three-year starter for the Eagles from 2003-05. He earned all-conference honors in each of his final three seasons, including his senior year in which he transitioned from cornerback to wide receiver.
Blackmon, 31, attended Bishop Hendricken H.S. in Warwick, R.I., where he was named Gatorade Rhode Island Player of the Year as a senior. He was born Oct. 27, 1984.
