Redskins Sign DL Terrance Knighton

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent defensive lineman Terrance Knighton. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Knighton (6-3, 331) is entering his seventh NFL season after being originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. For his career, Knighton has appeared in 93 career regular season games with 81 starts, compiling 201 tackles (131 solo), 12.5 sacks, 11 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered and two interceptions.

Knighton spent his first four NFL seasons with the Jaguars before signing with the Denver Broncos as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2013. Knighton started all 32 regular season games and four postseason games for the Broncos across the 2013-14 seasons, including Super Bowl XLVIII.

Knighton played collegiately at Temple from 2005-08, recording 184 tackles (105 solo), seven sacks, three forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and four blocked kicks in 46 career games with 34 starts.

Knighton, 28, attended Windsor (Conn.) H.S., where he was a two-year letterman at defensive end and tight end. He was born on July 4, 1986.
