The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent defensive end Jason Hatcher. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hatcher (6-6, 299) was originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round (92nd overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
He played eight seasons in Dallas from 2006-13, appearing in 119 regular season games with 42 starts.
For his career, Hatcher has registered 205 tackles (143 solo), 27.0 sacks, seven passes defensed, four forced fumbles, four fumbles recovered and one interception.
In 2013, he started all 15 games in which he appeared for the Cowboys, posting a career-high and team-leading 11 sacks en route to his first career Pro Bowl selection.
His eight sacks against divisional opponents in 2013 were tied for second-most in the NFL.
Hatcher played collegiately at Grambling State from 2002-05, finishing his career with 111 tackles, 31.5 tackles for a loss and 18.5 sacks.
As a senior in 2005, he earned first-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference honors in helping the Tigers to a SWAC title and a 9-0 conference record.
Hatcher, 31, attended Jena (La.) H.S., where he earned all-state honors as a senior after catching 28 passes for 1,028 yards as a tight end. He was born on Aug. 13, 1982.
